Toni de Bromhead only paints places that she knows well and has a strong connection with.  No matter how beautiful a landscape, unless she has some sense of what lies beneath the surface, she’s not interested.

As such, she is not mostly working in Sicily at the moment, an island that has layers of history, legend and myth not only beneath its surface, but sometimes visible above it. Toni is looking for ways to express this ‘other world’, not only through colour and light but also through textures.
